ITEC is Approved by the Connecticut Commissioner of Higher Education as a Private, Non-Profit, Vocational-Technical School.

ICPA’s surveys of Connecticut consumers confirms time and again that our HVAC technicians are rated near the very top of those whom consumers respect for information about energy issues. Our Technicians are ranked higher in credibility than the entire news media, government, utilities and every politician. We are in the homes of more than 682,000 consumers and have the ability and credibility to deliver a strong energy message and develop new lines of business. No other business is so perfectly situated to help our customers as we are—as long as we are willing to develop a new business plan for the HVAC shop and take advantage of what we know — and how we can deliver - Value.

BPI’s Building Analyst 1 Training, as delivered by CleanEdison, will give your technicians the knowledge they need to perform a whole home energy audit. Learn the relationship between all the systems in the house and the effects on health, safety, comfort and efficiency.  The whole house is a system, learn how it all works together and how flaws in one part can compromise performance throughout. Learn building science fundamentals, energy conservation strategies, heat loss calculations, duct testing and sealing, blower door testing, etc.  Find the root cause of a problem and give them solutions that work! Your technicians already know the HVAC system now they can learn about the whole house as a system.

These ITEC programs will provide the best and most up-to-date training available that enables an individual to achieve certification to become a whole-home envelope energy conservation technician. The State of Connecticut subsidizes the cost of providing home energy audits. The company performing a whole home energy audit balance bills up to a maximum of $300. Utilities in the state are under state mandate to perform energy conservation programs in homes in Connecticut, funded from a systems benefit charge on everyone's electric bill.  Utilities hire independent contractors to perform this work for them. We, on the other hand, have a great advantage in that our licensed HVAC technicians are already in the homes of our customers - we can add great value to current HVAC work and service departments and companies by expanding into doing whole-home-energy audits.
