To ensure the continuation of children's lives in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and national and international legislation on children's rights, children's development progresses on par with their peers during their stay in prisons, it is considered important to provide child-friendly living units for children who are staying with their mothers in prison.
As a solution to ensure the fulfillment of the needs of both mothers and children and to prevent any potential negative impact of prisons on children, the establishment of the following has been undertaken; Mother-child units, Mother-child friendly areas, Preschool facilities and Playgrounds. Each unit comprises 6 sections, each equipped with 8 rooms designed to accommodate a mother and child, resulting in a total capacity of 48 mother-child pairs. Within the unit, there are: kitchen, common area and a ventilation garden, 2 play corners, KIOKS device, balcony, washing and drying machine.
