Dr Nick Tobia
National Programme Officer, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Philippines
Dr Nick Tobia is a national programme officer of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and a lecturer at Ateneo de Manila University. He is the UNODC programme manager of the prison reform portfolio in the Philippines. He specializes in human rights and justice sector reform, and as an academic, in peacebuilding and democratic politics. He has a PhD in peace and conflict studies from Otago, an MSSc in peace and conflict research from Uppsala, and a Juris Doctor from the University of the Philippines.
Relevant to this conference, Dr Tobia leads in the development of justice data methodologies. He developed a big data date stamp methodology to study trial court efficiency, which was adopted and institutionalized by the Supreme Court.
