Rasha Abuelhassan
Water & Habitat Thematic Advisor in Detention – Africa Region, The International Committee of Red Cross, Nairobi Regional Delegation, Kenya
Rasha has been working with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) since 2004 and has held positions in eight different countries, including Sudan, Pakistan, Mauritania, Mali, D.R. Congo, Egypt, Dakar Regional Delegation, and now in Nairobi Regional Delegation.
During her time with the ICRC, Rasha has participated in designing and developing Water and Habitat programs including water supply, sanitation, rehabilitation, and construction projects, for civilian populations affected by armed conflict as well as for people deprived of their freedom in places of detention. In addition to developing partnership programs and strengthening capacities with National Societies and government authorities to address humanitarian needs and ensure the sustainability and continuity of the programs.
Rasha holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree with Honors from Sudan University of Science and Technology in Sudan, a Master’s degree in Engineering Project Management from Coventry University in the UK, and an Executive Master in Environmental Governance and Policy Making from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Switzerland.
