In 2022, Incarceration Nations Network (INN) premiered "Incarceration Nations: A Global Docuseries" at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. The film series, which tells the story of mass incarceration around the world via people with lived experience of it, includes the episode "(In)Justice for Women," which focuses on women and girls impacted by the prison system in Argentina, Taiwan, Sierra Leone and the US. One of these women is Nora Calandra, whom Dr. Baz--Executive Director of INN and director of the docuseries--interviewed in Buenos Aires shortly after her release from prison in 2019. At the time, Nora was already a powerful advocate for justice, having founded an organization while incarcerated and working tirelessly to support justice-involved women across Argentina.

Five years later, Nora is an acclaimed government official: the Sub-secretary for Labor and Inclusion for the Buenos Aires Provincial Government. She is also a 2023 Global Freedom Fellow and has traveled to Brazil, South Africa and Colombia in the name of justice. In this session we screen the docuseries episode and Dr. Baz interviews Nora about her incredible journey, before the film and after.
