Learn how the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Windham School District have taken a cooperative approach with advocacy groups, people with lived experience, institutions of higher education, governmental agencies, non-profit associations and workforce industries to drive improvements and outcomes in the corrections setting. Noteworthy advances and events detailed within the presentation include data sharing and program effectiveness studies, modification of policies, addition of higher education partners and degree options for both women and men, family engagement with an impactful Daddy-Daughter dance, college and career days, prison-based industry partner meetings and legislative funding for secure online connectivity and devices for students in the prison setting. 
The presentation will detail how to engage community partners, identify and implement improvements, message successes to the general public and effectively respond to criticism. Examples of positive outcomes through various communication platforms, including social media, press releases and events will be provided to attendees.
