Pieter Van Caeneghem
Governor, Prison of Oudenaarde, Belgian Prison Service
Pieter Van Caeneghem holds a master degree Law and Criminology from the Ghent University.
He started his professional carreer in 2005 at the legal department of the Belgian Prison Service, but soon moved to the prison of Ghent to become prison governor in 2008. His work was mainly focused on managing the detention of convicts, remand prisoners, and mentally ill prisoners on an operational level.
In 2011 he moved to the prison of Oudenaarde, a high security prison for long sentenced inmates. Next to the management of the detention, he’s responsible for the financial and logistics management of the prison.
He carried out several projects, local and nationally, following the principles of LEAN-management.
He teaches criminal law courses at the training center for staff members and is a guest speaker at the Ghent University.
With a heart for sport, he launched several sport projects for inmates and staff members, which were picked by national media.
