Panel Discussion on Lived Experience (PID401)

3.45pm – 4pm GMT, 27 October 2026 ‐ 15 mins

Room: Hall 1A (Level 1)

Plenary Session

This closing panel brings together four lived experience experts from the UK, North America, and Australia to reflect on the opportunities and challenges of partnering with people with lived experience across the corrections continuum.

Gethin Jones, Tosha Big Eagle, Dwayne Antojado, and Tassie Ghilani bring decades of collective experience across justice systems, advocacy, and lived experience leadership. Together with the audience, they will consider what meaningful and respectful engagement looks like in practice, drawing together key themes and exploring the benefits of genuine partnership, the risks of tokenistic or unplanned engagement, and practical steps towards lasting change.

With space for questions, shared reflections, and open discussion, this session offers an opportunity to consider what these insights mean for participants’ own organisations and jurisdictions. It will invite everyone to reflect on how authentic collaboration can inform policy, improve practice, and contribute to more effective, humane, and responsive correctional systems.
