Parallel Workshops
It is our vision that the presentation will offer the audience an opportunity to experience some of the key work completed by NIPS and White Ribbon NI.
White Ribbon NI introduced the Listen Learn Lead programme into Hydebank Wood in 2022. The program was carefully piloted, continuously evaluated and tailored to meet the needs of the population. Following the successful pilot in Hydebank we resolved to make the programme a consistent part of resident’s journey through custody.
Hydebank Wood is a site shared by both women and young males and as a shared site there is a requirement for us to promote respect among our population and our staff.
Listen Learn Lead is a preventative, strengths based program grounded in identity and is designed with the ethos of inclusivity allowing everyone to participate. Together we have further developed the program for staff, for women in custody and for the adult male population in Maghaberry and Magilligan prisons – meaning the programme is available right across Northern Ireland.
Violence against Women & Girls is not just a Northern Ireland issue, it is not just a whole UK and Ireland issue it is a global issue. The Listen Learn Lead program has become a part of NIPS culture and has influenced the co-design of the first ever Women and Girls Strategy in Northern Ireland.
White Ribbon NI & NIPS are Changing Minds and Changing Lives…and maybe even changing Northern Ireland.
