1.30pm – 2.15pm ICT, 25 February 2025 ‐ 45 mins

Workshop Session

The Irish Prison Service is embracing digital transformation to modernise rehabilitation, service delivery, and prison operations. The transition to a technology-enabled environment enhances digital literacy, social reintegration, and overall quality of life post-custody.

This initiative focuses on four key areas:
•  Digital Service Delivery for People in Custody – Providing access to education, healthcare, and prison services via digital platforms.
•  Digital Service Delivery for Staff & Partners – Enabling smart, secure workflows for sentence management, facility operations, and prisoner engagement.
•  Electronic Security of Prisons – Implementing digital security solutions.
•  Digital Prison Building Management – Enhancing sustainability through automated monitoring and resource optimisation.

By integrating ICT solutions, the Prison Service is advancing its mission while ensuring a safe, rehabilitative, and future-ready environment.

The ongoing Technology & Change Delivery Plan sets a structured path for digital maturity, governance, and innovation, supporting both people in custody and those working within the system.

This transformation journey is not just about modernisation but about rethinking correctional operations in a digital society.
