Corrections officers play a vital yet often overlooked role in peace operations, helping to restore the rule of law in conflict and post-conflict settings. However, their impact is frequently limited by inconsistent pre-deployment preparation. This presentation introduces the newly developed and updated pre-deployment training package designed to better equip corrections officers with the knowledge, practical skills and cultural competence needed for mission success. Drawing on lessons from past deployments and adult learning principles, the new material aims to enhance readiness, promote professional standards, and support more effective corrections engagemant in complex peace operations and environments.
