I will consider methodological advances in the field of risk assessment, and their applicability to criminal justice. New
scalable approaches to risk assessment will be outlined, including new tools that model recidivism risk in people in
prison (OxRec), people sentenced to sexual offences (OxRIS) and community offences (OxMORE), and individuals
arrested for domestic violence (OxDOV).. The role of these novel scalable tools will be discussed in the context of
efforts towards decarceration, and whether they have a role in more collaborative approaches that bring together
criminal justice and health services. Furthermore, the potential contribution of other disciplines, particularly ethics
and economics, will be outlined.
