Nadya Radkovska
Commissioner, Head of International Cooperation and Training of Staff Department, General Directorate “Execution of Sentences”, Bulgaria
Since the beginning of 2004 Ms. Radkovska has been working for General Directorate “Execution of Sentences”, initially as a member of the team responsible for the introduction of alternative sanctions and measures (probation) in Bulgaria. She has participated in the development of policy, risk assessment tools for offenders, training strategy and procedures aiming the successful establishment of the probation service as a part of the justice chain in Bulgaria.
In 2020 she was appointed as Head of the Department for International Cooperation and Training of Staff at General Directorate “Execution of Sentences”. In recent years Ms. Radkovska is involved in many international projects and initiatives, focused on supporting the implementation and introduction of Council of Europe recommendations, standards and best practices in prison and probation services in different states in Europe.
Ms. Radkovska is actively involved in UNODC initiatives on the field of radicalization and violent extremism in prisons in Tajikistan, Iraq and Kazakhstan.
In 2020 she was elected by the European Commission as Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) Prisons Working Group Leader.
Since January 2022 she is the Chair of the Council for Penological Co-operation (PC-CP) at the Council of Europe.
