Chris Hendry
National Director Warden Exchange Program, Prison Fellowship Ministry, USA
Chris Hendry is currently the National Director Warden Exchange program position. His extensive experience with the Florida Department of Corrections.
Before retiring from the Florida Department of Corrections as the Bureau Chief for Professional Development and Training, his role focused on providing professional development training to over 20,000 staff statewide. This included building and delivering training and services around our values. I maintained effective relationships with all agency leadership and wardens across the state while building relationships with numerous correctional agencies across the country.
Additionally, Chris is a graduate of the Prison Fellowship, Wardens Exchange Program. This opportunity provided innovative approaches that aimed to impact and transform prisons using effective rehabilitation practices. As Bureau Chief He was able to pilot the Blue Courage Inclusive Leadership training program in Florida and restructured the 120-hour Field Training Officer On-Boarding Program for Correctional Staff. Through spearheading the implementation of the Correctional Academy Re-take Exception (CARE) program I was able to systematically overhaul the Instructor Professionalism training leading to a reduction in failure rates across Basic Recruit academies. Since these initiatives have been implemented the agency has seen a 38% reduction in first year separations of Correctional Officers placed in Florida institutions statewide.
