Trefina Itengula

Trefina Itengula is a dedicated public health professional with over a decade of experience in health service delivery, programme management, and policy implementation. Her professional journey began in February 2011 and has since been rooted in advancing public health within the Namibian public sector. She joined the Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) in January 2015, where she currently serves as Health Programme Officer (Senior Superintendent).
Ms. Itengula holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Science (Clinical Instruction) and a Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery Science from the University of Namibia. Her expertise spans clinical instruction, coordination of donor-funded health programmes, and facilitation of capacity-building initiatives addressing Tuberculosis (TB) and HIV.
A key aspect of her professional portfolio includes active participation in the development, review, and implementation of national health policies and guidelines, notably in ART, TB management, and infection prevention and control. Over the past eight years, she has led the coordination of TB and HIV interventions within correctional facilities, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to strengthening healthcare systems and improving health outcomes for incarcerated populations
