Dynamic Security – Yes, We Can! A Lithuanian – Norwegian Partnership to Improve Quality of Lithuanian Prison Service (PID114)

2pm – 2.30pm EDT, 25 October 2023 ‐ 30 mins

Workshop Session

Lithuanian Prison Service has recently adapted their legal acts and regulations to include Dynamic security as a working method. Norwegian Correctional Service has used Dynamic security as an integral part of the Security concept since the 1990s. Lithuanian Correctional service has over the last years adapted several measures of Dynamic Security to fit into a Lithuanian context. What is working best? What are the most successfull measures? What is not possible to implement due to different structural constraints? What measures are costly and what measures are not that expensive? What kind of cultural change do we see?

In this workshop we aim to show the process of including Dynamic Security into a holistic security concept that combines static, organisational and dynamic elements of Security. We will reflect on the necessary steps of making strategies, adapting legal acts and regulations. We will give expamples of the interactive training methodologies based on dialogue groups and share early outcomes and how this is being implemented in practise. We will show the audience examples of the results from Lithuania and we will show expamples from educational films and interact with the audience to reflect on what elements of Dynamic security you use in your daily work.
