Dan Obiero is an accomplished Project Manager, Architect and Infrastructure Development Expert with over fifteen years of experience in correctional infrastructure planning, design, and modernization. He currently serves as the Director Planning and Development at the Kenya Prisons Service, where he leads nationwide projects focused on upgrading and transforming correctional facilities to align with international standards of safety, sustainability, and human dignity.
Dan’s professional journey includes notable service with the International Committee of the Red Cross, where he supported the operations and maintenance of prisons program in Ethiopia. He also served in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), where he oversaw the design and rehabilitation of detention facilities in post-conflict settings. His work emphasizes innovation, human rights integration, and sustainable technologies in prison design.
A registered Architect and Corporate Member of the Architectural Association of Kenya, He is also an Environmental Impact Assessment Expert and a Monitoring and Evaluation professional. He continues to champion modern, humane, and secure correctional environments across Africa through design excellence and collaborative development approaches.
