Rob Jeffreys

Rob Jeffreys is a nationally recognized criminal justice expert with over two decades of correctional experience. Mr. Jeffreys is the Director of the Nebraska Department of Corrections Services. He recently spent nearly four years as the Director of the Illinois Department of Corrections, leading criminal justice policy reform, and 24 years at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
During Mr. Jeffreys' tenure, he last served in several senior-level positions, including Chief of Staff, leading the correctional agency's strategic initiatives, Regional Director, supervising adult correctional facilities, and parole supervision. The most influential position was his first position as Corrections Class Specialist in the research department.
Mr. Jeffreys is a champion of using research and data to drive decision-making, improve outcomes, and increase efficiency and effectiveness. As a consultant and trainer for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Crime and Justice Institute, and the Moss Group, he has provided policy and program development and specialized training to aid agencies in meeting their targeted goals and advancing their mission.
Mr. Jeffreys holds bachelor's and master's degrees in criminal justice with a concentration in correctional administration from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.
Nationally recognized for affecting change in policy and excelling in leadership, Mr. Jeffreys received the William H. Hastie Award in the criminal justice field. He was elected president of the Correctional Leadership Association and chairman of its Racial Disparity Committee. He is also a member of the Council on Criminal Justice. He serves on several DOJ steering committees, including the National Institute of Corrections' Restrictive Housing and the Bureau of Justice Assistance/The Moss Group's Improving Institutional Corrections Academy training committees.
