Thematic Workshop Sessions

The Staff Training and Development Network (STDN) of the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) has significantly advanced global correctional workforce capabilities through innovative training and partnerships from 2024–2025. With membership growing 163% (45 to 118 members) across 49 countries, STDN has prioritized staff specialization, retention, and leadership development. Key achievements include:

Hybrid Knowledge Sharing: The 2024 “21st Century Prisons” webinar (featuring UCSC’s Dr. Craig Haney) and Singapore Conference proposal for a global incident-reporting repository promoted cross-border learning.

Local Capacity Building: Successful Training of Trainers (ToT) in Namibia laid groundwork for expansion to Nigeria and Philipines 2025.

Strategic EU Partnerships: Projects like INTEGRATE (mentorship programs) and PO21 (EU workforce standards) enhanced staff support systems.
