Digital and ICT Strategy and How to Boost Digitalization by Improving Staff Digital Skills and Cybersecurity Awareness (PID015)

10.08am – 11am EDT, 23 April 2024 ‐ 52 mins

Room: Meeting Room 9

Parallel Workshop Session

The presentation addresses how the Digital and ICT strategy of the Prison and Probation Services of Finland supports staff digital skills and cybersecurity awareness for the adoption of emerging technologies. The main question is how to mitigate information security and data protection risks by training staff and supporting their ICT skills.

Cybersecurity at the Finnish public sector, which holds sensitive data and critical infrastructure, is increasingly being targeted by different kind of attacks. At the same time, our organization has digitalized its services. Hence, the significance of preparedness, technical capabilities, the cybersecurity awareness of our staff and the management of supply chains are more important than ever before.

Supporting staff digital skills and cybersecurity awareness is cross-cutting all seven principles in our Digital and ICT Strategy. If our staff is not familiar with the new digital solution, the investment is not going to bear fruit.
