In a time where life events are measured in terms of pre and post COVID-19 lockdown, innovation and adaptability have been crucial to the successful modernisation of correctional practice within NSW, Australia.
With 36,549 offenders subject to community-based orders in NSW in January 2023, digital technology has been a key factor behind correctional staff continuing to deliver effective case management of offenders from within the four walls of their living rooms. Less The Green Mile and more change agents, the Remote Service Delivery Team, which works entirely remotely, has been at the forefront of innovative, person-centred offender management and is the first of its kind in NSW.
We will share the highs and lows of this unique digitalisation of correctional practice and its potential impacts on offenders, staff and stakeholders. We explore what has worked well, what we can do better, and how we keep moving forward without the cogs falling off the metaphorical wheel.
