Eight Case Studies for Digital Skills Transition in Prison Which Effectively Promote Rehabilitation (PID060)

2.20pm – 2.55pm EDT, 23 April 2024 ‐ 35 mins

Room: Meeting Room 10

Parallel Workshop Session

This session will describe eight, concise real-world case studies from a range of detention settings, showing in practice how digital skills transition was optimised at every stage of digital rollout – from conception to project initiation, implementation, ramp-up and sustained systemic integration. Each case study will be followed by a user-friendly list of learning and action points, to show how each case study was challenged that prison system, alongside possible solutions identified by practitioners in our Digital Transition Working Groups. Based on these case studies, we will conclude by defining specific predicators (such as within professional development curricula, leadership, the prison environment) which make it harder to implement digital change in prison, and possible ways for policy and decision makers to identify, predict and avoid these barriers to digital progress in prison.
