In the digital era, information and translation services are readily accessible, yet prisons lag behind. The key is to safely introduce these services to foster normalcy within corrections. Through interviews with incarcerated persons (i.p.), the need for autonomous access to institutional information and overcoming language barriers were highlighted. To address these needs, a secure, multilingual platform was developed. Using an CMS, the intranet was designed to be intuitive, mirroring the ease of information access found outside prison walls. Established tools like DeepL were integrated for general translations, while an on-prem solution, was chosen for sensitive communications to comply with Zurich's data protection laws. Future plans include enhancing these tools and exploring new technologies for staff- i.p. communication. This step towards digital normalcy in prisons aims to create a natural u.x. and supporting the reintegration of i.p. by focusing on the principle of normalization.
