An ambition for the Irish Prison Service to be a data-driven organisation. By this we mean that our objectives, operations and processes are all based upon a thorough understanding of the needs of our stakeholders, the realities of the lives of the communities we serve and the effectiveness of our interventions. We are currently designing the processes to make this ambition a reality. Building our capacity and skill to implement data solutions supports an integrated approach with our service users.

In 2020, the Service engaged in an extensive requirements gathering processing, engaging individuals from across the organisation, to develop a suite of holistic scorecards containing the right performance metrics that link to the vision of the organisation. The success of this project is rooted in the commitment to user focused design and delivery as evidenced by the extensive and intensive period of consultation with stakeholders from across the organisation and external partners.
