Prison Family Unit - A Therapeutical Environment for Babies and Parents (PID034)

11am – 11.45am EDT, 23 October 2023 ‐ 45 mins

Workshop Session

A prison sentence affects the whole family. Separation from a parent affects the child, especially when the child is small. Parenting can also be a main factor in rehabilitation. The Prison Family Unit supports the parent during the sentence and at the same time builds multidisciplinary support network for release. In cooperation between the prison and the Family Unit, parenting can be supported, encouraged and strengthened. The goal is to break the intergenerational cycle of crime.
