Webinar: Integrate Technology in a Prison Setting – Matching Positive Outcomes with Security & Safety Needs

Webinar Date: Tuesday 29 November @ Los Angeles (1100) / New York (1400) / London (1900) / Brussels (2000) / Singapore (0300) / Sydney (0600)

The Pandemic has accelerated the use of all kind of technologies in prisons and changed in many ways how correctional facilities operate. Although the urgency to find digital communication solutions or transform physical processes quickly into digital ones has faded, the conversation on how to integrate technologies and use them in a sustainable way is still very much alive.

Benefits in efficiency, safety, rehabilitation and increased quality of services can be achieved where the technology is properly designed and the implementation is thought through carefully, anticipating potential risks and negative side effects. As we modernise through the use of technology we must always be conscious of IT security to ensure vulnerabilities are mitigated. This notion of security can be further extended to how technology can enable the maturation of a jurisdiction’s approach to the physical safety and security of our institutions. This conversation will bring together experienced professionals who will explore how the use of technology can enhance institutional security while recognising the need to protect our IT assets.

We will do this, based on some examples of technology that supports both prison operations and offender management practices. During this conversation we will also go beyond the more physical meaning of security and talk about how technology could weaken or strengthen dynamic security and a rehabilitative prison environment.  All of this taking place on a strong foundation of solid IT security principles that will protect our IT infrastructure.
