We welcome Fatih Güngör, the Deputy General Director of Türkiye's Directorate General of Prisons and Detention House, to the ICPA's European Chapter Board. We look forward to working with you and supporting the advancement of correctional practice worldwide!

Fatih has over 12 years of experience in the criminal justice field. After graduating with a law degree, he started his career as a judge, serving in various provinces for six years, gaining valuable insights into the legal system and its practical application. In 2011, he was appointed as a reporter judge in the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses, where he examined and contributed to correctional facilities. 

Throughout his career, Fatih has been actively involved in various national and international projects, fostering modern and progressive law enforcement practices. As a Deputy Director General, he oversees international relations, projects, human rights, and legislation issues and works closely with various organizations and stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange in the sector of prisons and probation. 

Fatih is also a PhD student in criminal justice, which enables him to contribute to the advancement of corrections through research and academic pursuits. Driven by a passion for justice and rehabilitation, he is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of inmates and society as a whole. He strives to create more humane and progressive prison environments while advocating for the rights and well-being of those within the criminal justice system. Together with fellow professionals, Fatih believes in harnessing their collective expertise to engage in public discussions and drive positive change in the world of prisons
