Cathy is a psychology lecturer in Technological University of the Shannon, in Limerick Ireland and is a Chartered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland. She is currently working on her PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University - 'Exploring Female Well-being within an Irish Prison in development'.

Her values base is towards action research that makes a difference to the lives of the participants, and utilising qualitative approaches to capture the richness and depth of people's stories and experiences.
In her overall PhD study, she will be capturing the experiences of women living within the prison context, paying particular emphasis on issues of access into the prison and co-participatory research throughout her PhD. Focus will be placed particularly on the process of developing a Research Participant reference group within the Prison and how to support change for women serving custodial sentences.

Previous and continued research interests and publications of Cathy’s are in areas of Leadership and Culture in human service organisations, the ontology, causality and supports towards Challenging Behaviour in familial and residential contexts and the experiences for staff and families using Positive Behaviour Support.
