Call for Papers: Advancing Corrections Issue #19
_________________________________________________
This issue aims to profile how jurisdictions worldwide have aligned with the principles set forth in the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Administration of Juvenile Justice ("The Beijing Rules") and the United Nations Rules for the Protection of Juveniles Deprived of Their Liberty ("The Havana Rules"). We seek evidence and practice-informed discussions on what is working with juveniles, both in custody and community settings.
We invite researchers, practitioners, managers, policy-makers, and other correctional professionals to submit papers for one of the three sections of the journal:
-
Featured Research Articles: Research-oriented and scholarly papers with references to relevant literature.
-
Views and Reviews: Shorter discussions of relevant or emerging issues and topics.
-
Practice Innovation in Corrections: Profiles of innovative programs or approaches in corrections.
Submissions should focus on various sub-themes, including classification and placement, physical environment and accommodation, education and vocational training, medical and behavioral health care, family engagement, limitations of physical restraint, disciplinary procedures, recruitment and retention of qualified personnel, community reintegration, and the impact of the Beijing and Havana Rules.
Before submitting your manuscript, please provide a succinct summary of how your paper relates to the overall theme or any particular sub-theme. Manuscripts should follow the Guidelines for Authors and be submitted electronically to Frank Porporino, Ph.D., Chair of the ICPA Research and Development Network and Editor of Advancing Corrections ([email protected]), with a copy to Ilinca Cojocaru, ICPA Business Manager ([email protected]).
The deadline for submission is March 15th, 2025. All submitted papers will undergo a formal and rigorous peer review process managed by the Editor of Advancing Corrections. Papers selected for publication will also be consulted with key members of the ICPA Juvenile Network.
Join us in broadening our knowledge base in corrections and contributing to a more humane and evidence-informed juvenile justice system. We look forward to your submissions!
