Effecting Change in Corrections
The 21st Edition of the Advancing Corrections Journal (ACJ) explores the achieving of meaningful and sustainable reform across correctional systems worldwide. Bringing together twenty scholarly contributions from researchers and practitioners across diverse jurisdictions, this edition examines how leadership, organisational culture, evidence-informed practice, and cross-sector collaboration shape the implementation and long-term success of correctional change. Through insights into systemic reform, prison environments, staff wellbeing, digital transformation, community reintegration, and culturally responsive rehabilitation, the edition challenges correctional services to look beyond the introduction of new policies, programmes, and technologies towards the organisational conditions necessary for lasting improvement. Contributions highlight the importance of adaptable approaches, meaningful stakeholder engagement, and the integration of research into everyday practice. Ultimately, this edition emphasises that effective correctional change requires more than a compelling vision: it demands sustained leadership, investment in people and partnerships, and a commitment to learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement to achieve better outcomes for individuals, institutions, and communities.
