The week-long intensive program aims to create a core group of skilled trainers within the NCS who will be instrumental in disseminating crucial knowledge and best practices throughout the organization. This initiative represents a strategic approach to building sustainable institutional capacity in human rights compliance.

Building Capacity Through Interactive Learning

The training program employs diverse teaching methodologies, including interactive group discussions, practical demonstrations, and role-playing exercises. These hands-on approaches ensure that participants understand the theoretical aspects and gain practical experience in handling real-world scenarios.

"Our focus is on creating a participant-centered learning environment that promotes practical problem-solving skills," explains Dorin Muresan, the Chair of ICPA's Training and Development Network.

Key Focus Areas

The comprehensive curriculum covers essential aspects of trainer development, including:
  • Program design and resource management
  • Effective training organization and delivery
  • Implementation of interactive learning activities
  • Practical application of human rights principles in correctional settings
This initiative marks a significant milestone in Namibia's commitment to upholding international human rights standards in its correctional facilities. The trained officers will play a crucial role in creating a culture of human rights compliance and professional excellence within the NCS.
