Olivia Rope

Executive Director, Penal Reform International (PRI), Netherlands

Olivia Rope was appointed as Executive Director of Penal Reform International (PRI) in 2020, having joined the organisation in 2012 and previously leading on policy and international advocacy. She is an international lawyer, specialising on a range of human rights and criminal justice issues.

Olivia has authored key publications including Global Prison Trends, research and policy briefing publications, training curriculums and legal analysis. She has more than a decade of experience in engaging and advocating on human rights at the multilateral level, including the United Nations and regional bodies. As head of PRI’s global operations, Olivia oversees all aspects of the organisation from policy-setting and international advocacy to financial and fundraising aspects.

Previous to PRI, Olivia worked at Amnesty International at their European Union office and New Zealand section. She completed her LLM in International and European Human Rights Law at the University of Amsterdam in 2008 and was admitted to the High Court of New Zealand as a Barrister and Solicitor in 2009.

Susan Kigula Natoolo

Lawyer, International Human Rights and Anti-Death Penalty Activist, Sunny African Children's Center, Uganda

Susan Kigula is a Ugandan Lawyer, International Human rights and vigorous anti- death penalty activist, with a passion for children, youth and women empowerment, impacted by the Uganda Justice System.

She is a direct lived death penalty expertise, who shares this experience broadly, on international platforms and works with several abolitionist movements all over the world.

Susan is the founder and CEO of SUNNY AFRICAN CHILDREN’S CENTER, a not -for profit organization based in Uganda that takes care of the children of prisoners, orphans and street children, by giving them education, medication, a home, and their general welfare, providing for them a platform to grow like other children with parents.
