Tashima has over 20 years of experience providing oversight of population health and performance improvement initiatives in community and correctional settings. Tashima has served as a Director of Nursing, Health Services Administrator, Clinical Director of Population Health, Senior Correctional Program Specialist, and Strategic Compliance Manager in metropolitan Baltimore and Anne Arundel County community health and correctional agencies in Maryland. Tashima has also led and facilitated Crisis Intervention Team training for community and state correctional institutions, and has developed and provided Trauma-Informed and Trauma-Responsive Care training to law enforcement and community service organizations. Tashima has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland. Tashima maintains board certifications as a Registered Nurse and a Public Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, with additional professional certifications as Mental Health First Aid Instructor for Youth, Adults, and Public Safety populations, Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) Coordinator, Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt, and Correctional Healthcare.
Tashima currently services as a Correctional Program Specialist for the Prisons Division of the National Institute of Corrections in Washington, DC.
