Article 5: Open-Access Reentry: A Unique Approach at Reintegration (ACJ15-A005)

Abstract
The United States incarcerates more of its citizens than anyplace in the world. While nearly all will be released, most will return to prison. The current study examines the effectiveness of a reentry brokerage program that addresses an array of criminogenic and responsivity areas using a voluntary and open-ended approach that allows clients to engage in services as needs arise. Bivariate and logistic regression results indicate after controlling for demographic variables and risk, the treatment group showed significantly lower rates of new arrest. Strengths and challenges of this approach are discussed, as well as policy implications for reentry services.
