Responsible for identifying, developing, and launching products and services for the organization in areas where Telio is currently not yet active. The Chief Research Officer/Director Business Development creates and implements short- and long-term strategic goals in new markets and to be able to differentiate the company in those markets, provide unique value to customers, and help build long-term relationships with customers, researchers/academia, not for profit, correctional influencers, and other stakeholders. Formerly, the Chief Information Officer at Correctional Service Canada (CSC). In his role, Simon was responsible for engaging with his business partners to identify opportunities where the enablement of technology and information management services can address business challenges. Simon is the chair of the ICPA’s Technology Solutions Network. This Network works to promote the advancement of corrections through ICT & Technology enabled business transformation, based on available research, supported by proven solutions and methodologies.

Steven Van De Steene

Affiliated Researcher, The Montfort University

Steven Van De Steene is an Enterprise Architect and Technology for Corrections Expert. He works as a researcher, affiliated to the Montfort University and as a consultant in the area of innovation and technology strategy for prisons and probation services. Steven has a long experience in international projects related to digital transformation in corrections and currently is a Board Member of the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA). Prior to this current position he was the IT Director of the Penitentiary Institutions in Belgium and chair of the Technology Expert Group within Europris.

Bianca Reisdorf

Associate Professor, University of North Carolina at Charlotte

I am a scholar in the interdisciplinary field of media, communication, and information sciences with a strong background in the social sciences, and specifically media sociology. Borrowing from a variety of methodological traditions and theories, I investigate the interactions between technology and society. My strongest interest lies in digital inequality research with a focus on vulnerable groups and social justice. Across a number of projects, I investigate why certain people and societal groups are not using digital media, or are using it marginally, and how this affects their personal relationships, participation in society, educational or professional opportunities, and other realms of their everyday lives. My ultimate aim is to improve the status quo by formulating feasible and attainable policy recommendations and community solutions that can help to bridge and overcome digital divides and digital inequalities.

Malin Nordström

Assistant Professor, Örebro University School of Business

Dr Malin Nordström is the researcher and innovator behind an industry leader portfolio management framework, but who has since made final accounts with commercialized frameworks. She is the leader of the Think Tank the Practice researchers which arranges for collaboration between researchers and practitioners. The purpose is to strengthen managers in the public sector with the ambition of basing decisions about digitalization on knowledge, experience and judgement. For five year she has collaborated with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. She is the main author of the digital penalty strategy, designer of the portfolio management model for digitalization and act as senior advisor to the CIO and other members in the senior management team.

Victoria Knight

Associate Professor, De Montfort University

Dr Victoria Knight is associate professor in research at De Montfort University, UK. She directs the Prison and Probation Research Hub and codirects the Institute for Community, Criminology, Education and Social Justice. Victoria has extensively published on the digital prison and continues to actively research this topic both in the UK and across the globe. She also consults with prisons, charities and digital developers on digitization.She is a co-editor of The Journal for Prison Education and Resettlement and supports the Advancing Corrections Journal. She contributes to prison practice and has served for 17 years on English Independent Monitoring Boards.

Arun Vanapalli

Manager Strategy and Consulting Group, Accenture

Arun Vanapalli is a Manager in the Strategy and Consulting group at Accenture Canada, with a special interest in analytics and applied intelligence. He has extensive experience with regards to IT service delivery, change management, IT transformation, and organizational strategy in both public and private sectors. Arun is passionate about transforming public safety to create better outcomes for all stakeholders, with a focus on understanding societal and technological trends to optimize organizational change. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Mechanical Engineering, and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education with a focus on using technology to enhance learning outcomes. Arun’s unique blend of technical and soft skills allows him to bring a novel perspective to business problems across multiple industries.

Håkan Klarin

CIO, Swedish Prison and Probation Service

Mr Hakan Klarin is an experienced Chief Information Technology Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the government administration industry. Skilled in Innovation Management, Business Development, Strategic Planning and Change Management. Holds an Executive MBA-degree and is specialized in managing global R&D and innovation within large scale organizations. Mr Hakan Klarin has during the period 2011 to 2017 had the position as CIO for Region Ostergotland, the fourth largest county council and healthcare provider in Sweden as well as several national assignments within the domain. Since 2017 Mr Hakan Klarin holds the position as CIO for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and was the previous head of the Expert Group for ICT within Europris.
