Guest Editorial: Prison climate as a foundation for evidence-based policy centered on humanity (ACJ17-A0000)
Abstract
Less discussed are the experiences of prisoners and prison employees. Their challenges are myriad and difficult to quantify. However, new efforts have recentered the perspectives of key stakeholders and uniquely support evidence-based carceral policy. This provides the opportunity to operationalize humanity in prison – moving from relying on an ideological proxy towards a pragmatic, measurable goal that looks beyond architecture and focuses on people.
