Charles Mautz is the Innovation Institute Administrator for the North Carolina Division of Prisons. Charles oversees the Institute's role in reviewing, researching, and evaluating innovative initiatives, evidence-based practices, and advances in the use of technology within North Carolina Prisons. Charles' experience in correctional work includes direct behavioral health practice as a Psychologist, management of specialized behavioral health treatment programming, operational oversight of all unit-based treatment programs across the Division, and numerous contributions to Policy and Procedure development, Operational Manual development, Continuous Quality Improvement committee work, documentation and electronic health record committee work, Crisis Intervention Team training development and instruction, peer-reviewed publication of program evaluation studies, and more. Charles also prioritizes building efficacious and beneficial partnerships with external agencies, researchers, and other stakeholders to further advance the work done in North Carolina Prisons.
